What we’re about

OUR MISSION INSPIRES OUR DIRECTION…

At Mosaic Church our mission is “To Know Him and Make Him Known.”  This statement answers two fundamental questions: who are we? and what are we here for? At the heartbeat of who we are is a diverse group of people that can live in covenant with God together by living into the Greatest Commandment (Matthew 22:36-40) and the Great Collaboration (John 17:20-23) where Jesus calls us to become one. As we love God and live as one, we grow in knowing Him more and more.  As a covenant people, we then make Jesus known through our witness and example…personally and corporately.

OUR VALUES KEEP US ON TRACK…

RADICAL LOVE
We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.  And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world. Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.  We love each other because he loved us first.  If someone says, “I love God,” but hates a fellow believer, that person is a liar; for if we don’t love people we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see? And he has given us this command: Those who love God must also love their fellow believers (1 John 4: 16-21, NLT). Seeing the overlooked and loving them radically are our first steps in making Jesus known in our city.

HOSPITALITY
”Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay” (1 Peter 4:8-9, NLT). As we are welcomed in Christ into God’s eternal family, it’s important that we welcome others into our spaces of life and worship.

DISCIPLES WHO MAKE DISCIPLES
Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28: 18-20, NLT) In 2 Timothy 2:1-2 we subtly see 4 generations of disciples, one multiplied from the other. We aim to raise up disciple-makers who don’t pass people off to professional pastors, but are fully equipped to “fish for people” (Matthew 4:19) on their own.

RECONCILIATION
And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ (2 Corinthians 5:18-20, NLT). As a multi-ethnic, multi-generational church with a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds, we seek to embody Christ’s reconciliation as a witness to a divided world.

COMMUNITY IMMERSION
”And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14, NRSV). In a world that creates more difference and distance, Jesus wishes to be with people in the spaces where they live, work, play, and learn. In order to make Jesus known, we must have the courage to be proximate to people.

EQUIPPING THE SAINTS
Now there are varieties of gifts but the same Spirit, and there are varieties of services but the same Lord, and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good” (1 Corinthians 12:4-7, NRSV). God calls us to be disciples, not consumers. That means that each of us have spiritual needs while also having the ability to contribute to the Body and our purpose.
